September 22-24, 2024 | Partners Ryan Phelan, Jeremy Kriegel, and Noah Tilton to Speak at IPO Annual Meeting
Partners Ryan Phelan, Jeremy Kriegel, and Noah Tilton will join panel presentations at the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) Annual Meeting. The event brings together IP professionals from around the world to discuss strategies, trends, and best practices through educational programs, committee meetings, networking opportunities, and exhibits. The annual meeting will be held from September 22-24, 2024, in Chicago, Illinois.
Ryan’s session, “IP Protection for Complex AI Innovations in Pharma and MedTech,” will explore US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and USPTO’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) cases concerning the treatment of Pharma and MedTech AI inventions, as well as the challenges with protecting such complex technologies. Ryan will be speaking with Michael Fuller (Knobbe Martens), Carl Kukkonen (Jones Day), and Hugh Pasika (Thermo Fisher Scientific).
Noah’s panel, “Getting the Most Out of a USPTO Examiner Interview: Interview Best Practices and Tips,” will cover practical and strategic concerns related to interview practice before the USPTO. The panel will be moderated by Joseph Kallie (Howard & Howard Attorneys) and Noah’s co-panelists are Courtenay Brinckerhoff (Foley & Lardner), Derrick Ferris (USPTO), and Erica Navar (McAndrews, Held & Malloy, Ltd.).
Jeremy’s panel, “Right to Repair,” will provide an overview of the right to repair and relevant legislation. Jeremy will be joined by Bart Fisher (Caterpillar), Paolo Lazzarino (ADVANT), and Essenese Obhan (Obhan & Associates), to discuss US state and federal right to repair laws, what is happening with “must match” laws in Europe, and laws/proposals in other jurisdictions.
