Artificial Intelligence at USPTOThe USPTO recently published a report regarding public views on Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property Policy

One interesting note: on the issue of whether an AI can be an inventor, a majority view is that an "Artificial General Intelligence" (AGI) (i.e., an AI with human-level intelligence) has not yet arrived. In view of this, the majority of comments suggested that current AI could neither invent nor author without human intervention. The comments suggested that human beings remain integral to the operation of AI, and this is an important consideration in evaluating whether IP law needs modification in view of the current state of AI technology.
