Marshall Gerstein Welcomes 2026 Summer Associate Class

Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP is proud to welcome our 2026 summer associate class! Over the coming weeks, our summer associates will get hands-on experience working alongside our attorneys, engaging in meaningful client work, and participating in professional development and social programs that reflect our collaborative culture.

Our summer program offers a dynamic look into the practice of law, with opportunities to gain exposure to the industries and innovations that shape our clients’ businesses. We are excited to welcome our 2026 Summer Associate class:

Stefan Brooks is a 2L at DePaul University. Stefan will be working with our Biotechnology & Life Sciences group, where he previously worked as a Patent Agent. Stefan earned his Ph.D. in biological chemistry from the University of California, Irvine.

Daniel Chung is a 1L at Emory Law School. Daniel will join our Electrical & Computer Technologies group, where he worked as a Technical Specialist prior to law school. Daniel holds a B.S. in computer engineering and statistics from the University of Illinois.

John Golden is a 2L at Loyola University Chicago and will be working with our Electrical & Computer Technologies group. John received his B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois.

Casey Hayden is a 1L at the University of California San Francisco. Casey will join our Electrical & Computer Technologies group, where he worked as a Technical Specialist prior to law school. Daniel holds a B.S. in physics from the University of Oregon.

Erin Kelley is a 2L at the University of Michigan and will be working with our IP Litigation group. Erin received her B.S. in bioinformatics/molecular biology and her M.S. in biochemistry/biophysics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Caitlyn Kranz is a 2L at Chicago-Kent College of Law, and will be joining Marshall Gerstein’s Trademarks & Copyrights group. Caitlyn obtained an LLM from Northwestern University and her LLB from IE University in Madrid.

Ria Patel is a 2L at Duke University. Ria previously joined the firm as a technical specialist, and she will continue to work with the firm’s Electrical & Computer Technologies group. Ria received her B.S. in biomedical engineering and her M.S. in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University.

Kevin Piotrowski is a 1L at the University of California Berkeley, and will be joining our Electrical & Computer Technologies group. Prior to law school, Kevin worked at Marshall Gerstein as a Patent Agent. He achieved a B.S. in computer science and engineering from Michigan State University.

Kaila Smith is a 2L at Loyola University Chicago and she will be working with the firm’s Biotechnology & Life Sciences group. Kaila received her B.S. in biological sciences from DePaul University and her Ph.D. in plant biology/molecular plant sciences from Michigan State University.

Theodora Whiteman is a 2L at Loyola University Chicago and will be working with our Trademark & Copyright group. Theodora received her B.A. in English literature and history of art from Yale University and her M.S. in humanities from the University of Chicago.

Henry Xu is a 1L at Chicago-Kent College of Law, and currently works as a Patent Agent in Marshall Gerstein’s Industrial & Mechanical Technologies group. Henry obtained a B.S. and M.S. in biomedical engineering from the University of Michigan.

Kevin Zhu is a 1L at Duke University. Kevin will join the firm’s Electrical & Computer Technologies group, where he previously served as a Technical Specialist. Kevin has a B.S. and M.S. in computer engineering from Northwestern University.
